It's time to get out and show a new guy one of the parks in the area. We're going to be a biased towards the easy* side of things since it's a bit of a shake down run for him, and the first trail ride for my daughter :)

Usual rig-a-maroo. Leave Red Roof in Columbia at 7 (or earlier if everyone is there). Gas stop somewhere, get to Flat Nasty at 9-9:30 ish.

*I have been told that I lack self preservation, so I make no guarantee as to how easy things will be, but I'll have Jr, Jrette, and Moma with me, so I'll likely not be too dumb... maybe..

Should be fun!

I have a report from perhaps a different perspective. Murphy's Law was rampant!!

We arrive at the park around 9ish and I get out to pay for my entrance fee leaving my 7yr old in the truck. He decides to get out locking the door to keep it safe. He didn't realize that the keys, our lunch, and water, et. al. were inside and the truck was still running. We had nothing! And I never memorized the door code. So after borrowing Benno's phone and calling my dealer, they can't help, but give me roadside assistance. They say they will be out at some point....mmmkay?? I left instructions to leave the keys with the kind lady running the office that day.

So I unload my bronco and Benno proceeds to lead us around the park to do a little sight seeing. And roughly 3 miles into the trip, my bronco begins to act up. Still feels as tho it's starving for fuel. I coax it maybe another 100 yards and decide to throw in the towel. It just doesn't want to run. Benno drags me back to the still locked truck and we leave it for the day and pile into other rigs. We continue to enjoy the rest of the day and see a little more of the park; checking in at the front to see if anyone has come by to help me get into my truck. Finally, at the end of the day my truck is still locked and no one has showed up help me. So I call roadside assistance back and apparently, whomever they sent couldn't find the truck so they went on about their day. So with the help of another patron and being able to speak to the locksmith directly, we conveyed the directions needed and he was to be there in 30 min. That gave me time to load my bronco, now running fine, onto the trailer. We waited probably a bit more than 30 minuted before the locksmith arrived and within 5 minutes had slim-jim'ed the lock open and I was in my truck!!!
Jeff, Jim and family had waited around to make sure I was going to get home that night, so THANK YOU for that! I can't thank the group enough for their hospitality. Without them, my son and I wouldn't have had anything to eat for lunch, nor a ride around the park. The weather turned out to be perfect and as they say " a bad day on the trail is still better than a good day at the office".

So now onto more diagnosing my fuel issue and see where we land. But my appetite is only wetted for what Flat Nasty has to offer.

Thanks again everyone for welcoming us into your group. It was a humbling experience and I look forward to many more outings!

There is one very important question that needs to be asked....

.... do you now have that door code memorized?
