87 Comanche MJ Long Bed
1987 Comanche - 4.0L Engine - 4WD - Automatic Transmission

I purchased this MJ while travelling through Tulsa, OK in early 2009. PO did quite a few cheap mods, and I tried to return it to near-stock condition. I spent most of my time in the interior when I had time to put towards it, and was required to re-ring the engine and replace the head, but with the second child here, there isn't really time for me to give this MJ the love it deserves.

From what I know from the previous owner, it spent most of its life in Oklahoma. It moved with me from Springfield, IL then a summer in Ann Arbor, MI, then back to the St. Louis area. In Michigan (2009), I completely gutted the interior, so there's new carpet, new mats, new weather seals, new corner windows , '91 tape deck installed, dash board with gages instead of idiot lights, new steering wheel.

I haven't touched the exterior except to add a tail gate (wrong color, sorry), and a rear bumper.

In 2010, we lost compression and spent the next few weeks tearing down to re-ring the cylinders and replace all seals and the head.

Issues I know about:
Needs alignment. electrical gremlin in the headlight switch shuts the dash lights off when the headlamps are on, but half light up when the brights are on - I hate electrical problems, so I've never bothered to mess with it.

This is not my daily driver and I have maybe put 7000 miles on it since purchasing.

Below is the original Craigslist ad:
